Wisteria Wall Art – Oversized Lavender and Gold Textured Look Canvas for Living Room and Bedroom

Wisteria hangs the full width of the canvas in long racemes, every flower built up as its own stroke so the chains read as hundreds of separate petals rather than a painted shape. The colour runs from deep violet at the tips to almost white where the light catches, with sage leaves turning between them and gold leaf laid into the plaster behind.

Purple is the colour most people want and almost nobody buys art in, because most of it arrives either dusty or garish. What makes this one work is that the lavender is carried by cream rather than by more purple — the background is pale plaster and broken gold, so the flowers read as light rather than as a block of colour.

It belongs over something long: a sofa, a bed, a dining table. We have photographed it in a lavender farmhouse, a French bedroom, a lilac sunroom, a formal dining room and a garden conservatory, and leaned in close so you can see the petals standing off the surface.

A note on the finish, so there are no surprises. The standard canvas is a printed reproduction with a sculpted, textured look — the surface itself is smooth. If you want texture you can actually feel, choose Hand Painted Textured Original on this page and an artist builds the piece by hand in oil on linen, with real raised paint. Hand Embellished sits between the two: real oil worked over the print by hand, so the brushwork stands slightly proud of the surface.
