Sunflower Wall Art – Oversized Panoramic Bronze and Plum Textured Look Canvas for Dining Room

The same sunflowers against a deep bronze and plum ground, the background worked almost to black at the corners so the petals glow out of it. Dried seed heads and small bronze flowers fill the dark spaces between the blooms, and gold runs along the leaf edges.

A dark ground is what separates a decorative floral from something that looks like a painting. Over a dining sideboard with the lights low this behaves like a still life in a much older house — the yellows do the work a lamp would otherwise have to.

A note on the finish, so there are no surprises. The standard canvas is a printed reproduction with a sculpted, textured look — the surface itself is smooth. If you want texture you can actually feel, choose Hand Painted Textured Original on this page and an artist builds the piece by hand in oil on linen, with real raised paint. Hand Embellished sits between the two: real oil worked over the print by hand, so the brushwork stands slightly proud of the surface.

It is a 2:1 panoramic, the shape made for the long wall — above a sofa, a sideboard or a bed, where a square piece leaves dead space at either end.
