Plum and Gold Wall Art – Oversized Aubergine Textured Look Canvas with Gold Leaf for Living Room

Deep aubergine and mulberry fill the left of the canvas, scattered with a drift of gold leaf that gathers thickly at one edge and thins out across the middle like something caught mid-fall. To the right the colour breaks apart into cracked cream and bone, as though the surface had dried and lifted. The two halves meet without a line between them.

Nothing else in the range is this colour. Plum is a difficult shade to buy art in — it usually arrives either muddy or sweet — and what keeps this one rich is the cream: there is enough pale broken surface on the right that the dark side reads as depth rather than as a block of purple. We have photographed it in a kitchen, a dining room, a plum bedroom and a living room, and leaned close so you can see the gold sitting proud of the surface.

It is the piece for a room with something dark already in it — a velvet sofa, a stained table, a deep painted wall — that needs one thing on the wall to answer it.

A note on the finish, so there are no surprises. The standard canvas is a printed reproduction with a sculpted, textured look — the surface itself is smooth. If you want texture you can actually feel, choose Hand Painted Textured Original on this page and an artist builds the piece by hand in oil on linen, with real raised paint. Hand Embellished sits between the two: real oil worked over the print by hand, so the brushwork stands slightly proud of the surface.
