Mountain Lake Wall Art – Oversized Sunset Reflection Impressionist Canvas for Living Room

A still lake holds the whole sky. Snow-capped peaks sit back behind a dark line of pines, and above them the cloud is lit orange and apricot by a sun just out of frame — all of it repeated upside down in the water, broken only where the surface moves. Every part of it is laid on in short thick strokes, so the paint stands up off the canvas and the light sits in the ridges.

This is the only piece in the range painted this way. Everything else we make is an abstract surface; this is a real place, handled with a palette knife rather than a brush, closer to classical impressionism than to anything else on the site. If you have wanted a landscape that is not a photograph, this is it.

The sunset gives it a warm centre that reads from across a room, which is why it works equally in a pale bedroom and a near-black panelled study. We have photographed it in both, plus a living room, a dining room and an entryway.

A note on the finish, so there are no surprises. The standard canvas is a printed reproduction with a sculpted, textured look — the surface itself is smooth. If you want texture you can actually feel, choose Hand Painted Textured Original on this page and an artist builds the piece by hand in oil on linen, with real raised paint. Hand Embellished sits between the two: real oil worked over the print by hand, so the brushwork stands slightly proud of the surface.

Being square, it centres cleanly above a sofa, a bed, a console or a mantel where a wide piece would overhang the furniture beneath it.
