Ochre and Gold Wall Art – Oversized Cream Plaster Textured Look Canvas for Living Room

Rough cream plaster runs the full width, cracked and lifting in places, with a band of short horizontal dashes laid across the middle in ochre, terracotta and gold leaf. The dashes sit proud of the surface like bricks pushed halfway out of a wall — densest through the centre, thinning towards both ends.

Warm neutrals are the hardest thing to buy art in, because most of what exists is either beige and lifeless or tips over into orange. The ochre here is earth rather than orange, and the gold is what keeps it from going flat. That is why it holds a terracotta bedroom and a pale plaster entryway equally well.

At 60 inches wide it reads as a band across the back of a room. We have photographed it above a sofa, above a bed, over a dining table, in an entryway and behind a desk, and leaned in close so you can see the gold on the raised edges.

A note on the finish, so there are no surprises. The standard canvas is a printed reproduction with a sculpted, textured look — the surface itself is smooth. If you want texture you can actually feel, choose Hand Painted Textured Original on this page and an artist builds the piece by hand in oil on linen, with real raised paint. Hand Embellished sits between the two: real oil worked over the print by hand, so the brushwork stands slightly proud of the surface.
