Description

A woman rests her cheek against her hand, eyes closed, built entirely from palette-knife strokes. Her hair is laid on in thick cream ridges you can read across a room, set against blocks of deep navy, burgundy and burnt orange. The effect is quiet rather than loud — a figurative piece with real physical depth that anchors a wall without crowding the room.

Designed for modern living rooms and calm bedrooms

  • The cream and navy core sits naturally with oak, walnut and warm plaster, and holds its own against a painted or panelled dark wall.
  • Raised paint reads differently through the day — sharp and dimensional in side light, softer and more tonal under lamplight.
  • Vertical proportions suit narrow walls, stairwells and entryways where a horizontal piece would crowd.
  • At the larger sizes it works as the single focal point above a sofa or bed; the smaller sizes sit comfortably in a gallery arrangement.
  • Suits modern, contemporary, mid-century and organic modern interiors.

Made to order and delivered with care

Each canvas is painted after you order it. Expect 4 to 8 days in the studio, then 5 to 7 days in transit. Shipping is free; import duties and taxes are not included and are payable on delivery. You receive photographs every day or two while the piece develops. Every canvas is inspected and signed before it ships. Because your piece is painted to order it cannot be returned for change of mind — but if it arrives damaged, or is not the artwork you were shown, we repaint it or refund you in full. Sizes above 60 × 40 inches are painted on a canvas larger than we can stretch and box safely, so those ship rolled in a protective tube.

What buyers say

Janice Brown's photo of this piece at home
I wanted something elegant that would bring personality into my living room without making the space feel too formal. This artwork was exactly what I was looking for.

The soft blush, deep navy, warm cream, and gold details work beautifully with my furniture, and the painting gives the entire room a more finished, welcoming feel.

I notice something new in it every time I walk past — and everyone who visits asks where I found it.

Janice Brown · Clearwater, Florida

Jasmin P.'s photo of this piece at home
I kept coming back to this painting because there was just something about her that I loved. Once we hung it up, the whole room felt warmer and more personal.

The texture is what really surprised me — it looks and feels like an actual piece of art, not something mass-produced. Even my husband, who normally doesn't notice décor, said it completely changed the room.

Jasmin P. · San Diego, California

Paul & Sylvia's photo of this piece at home
Sylvia fell in love with this painting immediately, and I have to admit — it looks fantastic now that it's hanging in our living room.

The colors bring so much personality into the space, and the hand-painted texture is even more impressive up close. It feels like a truly special piece that we'll enjoy for many years.

Lena Mori in her studio

Meet the Artist

Lena Mori

For Lena Mori, painting has never been about simply filling an empty wall. It is about creating a feeling—peace, warmth, and wonder—and giving it a permanent place inside someone’s home.

Lena creates each painting slowly and intuitively, building her canvases by hand, one thoughtful layer at a time. She embraces expressive brushstrokes, rich textures, and the subtle imperfections that make every original painting completely unique.

In her quiet studio, surrounded by worn brushes, open paint jars, and works still taking shape, Lena devotes hours of patient attention to every canvas. Each piece carries the unmistakable character of something made by a real person—not reproduced by a machine.

When you choose one of Lena’s paintings, you are doing more than decorating your home. You are supporting an independent artist, helping preserve the tradition of handmade art, and bringing home something created with genuine care and intention.

I hope each painting feels personal—as though it was always meant to find the home where it eventually belongs.

Before You Commission

Straight answers about buying an original hand-painted piece

Hand painted, start to finish, by our artist Lena Mori. It is not a print, and it is not a print with paint added on top. That matters at this price, so here is how you can tell once it arrives: the paint sits above the surface of the canvas. You can see the ridge where a palette knife lifted, catch the light differently from either side of the room, and feel the texture with your hand. A print is flat, however good it is. Yours is painted after you order it, and Lena signs it before it ships.

Most pieces are painted in 4 to 8 days, then shipping takes 5 to 7 days. The painting time is real work, not a queue: layers have to dry before the next one goes on, and the texture and detail work cannot be rushed without showing. Larger pieces sit at the longer end of that range. Once it ships you get a tracking number by email. If you are working to a date — a birthday, a move, Christmas — call us before you order and we will tell you honestly whether it will make it.

It will be the same artwork, painted the same way, in the same palette — but not stroke for stroke identical, because it is painted by hand rather than reproduced. The composition, the palette and the placement of every detail follow the piece you are looking at. What varies slightly is the texture: where a knife caught, how thickly a ridge sits, exactly how the light breaks across it. We think that is the point. It is the difference between owning an original and owning a copy of one. If you would like to see the specific piece before it ships, just ask.

Yes, and most people say this is their favourite part. You will get photographs every day or two as your piece develops — the first blocking in, the texture going on, the detail work, the finished canvas before it is packed. It arrives by email, no app, nothing to sign up for. If something is not going the way you pictured, that is exactly when to tell us. It is far easier to adjust a painting in progress than after it is on your wall.

Stretched if you want to hang it the day it arrives. Rolled if you have a framer, or if you want to spend less on the canvas and more on the frame. Gallery wrap and the framed options arrive ready to hang, stretched over solid pine in our studio with the hardware fitted. Rolled ships in a protective tube for your own framer to stretch — it costs about 30% less, and it travels more safely at very large sizes. One thing to know: above 60 x 40 inches we only offer rolled. A stretched canvas bigger than that cannot be boxed and shipped without real risk of damage in transit, so we do not pretend otherwise.

Lena Mori paints every piece in this collection herself. She works slowly and in layers, by hand, in her own studio — expressive brushwork, heavy texture, and the small irregularities that only happen when a person makes something rather than a machine reproducing it. Her story is further down this page. When you buy from this collection you are commissioning an independent artist directly, not buying a licensed reproduction of someone's work.

Yes — and more than it does on a screen, which is the thing customers tell us most often. A photograph flattens raised paint. In a real room the piece changes through the day as the light moves across it: sharp and dimensional in raking afternoon light, softer and more tonal in the evening. On the pieces that carry metallic detail, it behaves completely differently under lamplight than under daylight. Hang it where it will get light from the side rather than straight on, and it will do far more work than the photos suggest.

No, and we put that in writing. These are painted with artist-grade pigments on artist-grade canvas, and backed by our 10-year colour guarantee. If the colour fades within ten years we will replace it. To look after it: keep it out of direct, prolonged sunlight where you can, and dust it occasionally with a dry soft cloth. Never use a damp cloth or any cleaning product on a painted surface.

You have 30 days from delivery, on a hand-painted piece as much as on anything else we sell. Wrong size, wrong room, not what you pictured — you do not need a reason and you will not get an argument. Given that each one is painted to order, we would much rather hear a doubt before Lena starts than after, so call us if you are unsure. We are a small family studio in Orlando, and the people who packed your order answer the phone. 1-855-876-5272.
