Terracotta Wall Art – Oversized Desert Strata Textured Look Canvas for Living Room and Bedroom

Bands of colour run diagonally across the canvas like strata in a cut cliff — chalk white at the top, a seam of dusty blue, then sand, then a deep rust terracotta, with gold leaf pressed along the lines where one layer meets the next. The whole surface is built in thick plaster so every band has an edge you can see the shadow under.

Terracotta is everywhere in interiors and almost always flat. What makes this one work is the blue: a single cool seam running through the warm bands stops the piece reading as a block of orange, and it is the reason it holds a terracotta wall as comfortably as a white one.

It is the warmest thing in the range. We have photographed it in a terracotta living room, a warm sand bedroom, a dining room, an entryway and a study, and leaned in close so you can see the gold sitting in the seams.

A note on the finish, so there are no surprises. The standard canvas is a printed reproduction with a sculpted, textured look — the surface itself is smooth. If you want texture you can actually feel, choose Hand Painted Textured Original on this page and an artist builds the piece by hand in oil on linen, with real raised paint. Hand Embellished sits between the two: real oil worked over the print by hand, so the brushwork stands slightly proud of the surface.

Being square, it centres cleanly above a sofa, a bed, a console or a mantel where a wide piece would overhang the furniture beneath it.
