Gilded Great Wave Wall Art – Oversized Teal, Cream and Gold Panoramic Japanese Wave Textured Look Canvas for Living Room

Our gilded take on the most famous wave in art. A towering crest of deep teal curls across the canvas, its foam clawing forward in raised white and gold, while a gold-leaf sun hangs in a pale cream sky and a small snow-capped peak sits quietly in the distance.

The original woodblock is nearly two hundred years old and still turns up in the most stylish rooms — because it is bold, graphic and calm all at once. Here it is warmed with cream and gold so it sits with oak, linen and brass rather than just blue and white.

A note on the finish, so there are no surprises. The standard canvas is a printed reproduction with a sculpted, textured look — the surface itself is smooth. If you want texture you can actually feel, choose Hand Painted Original on this page and an artist builds the piece by hand in oil on linen, with real raised paint. Hand Embellished sits between the two: real oil worked over the print by hand, so the brushwork stands slightly proud of the surface.

At twice as wide as it is tall, it follows the horizontal line of whatever sits beneath it — above a sofa, a sideboard, a bed or down a hallway. We have photographed it in a navy and white living room, a Japandi dining room, a sand-coloured bedroom and a white panelled hall.
